  1. Arthritis is the inflammation of the joints,
  2. with pain, swelling, and restricted motion.
  3. Many conditions may cause arthritis, 
  4. including gout, infection, and trauma to the
  5. joint. Osteoarthritis, is a degenerative 
  6. condition and tends to affect larger, 
  7. load-bearing joints, such as the knee and 
  8. hip. It appears in later life, especially in
  9. those whose joints may have been subject to 
  10. earlier stress or damage.
